Project: Water Treatment Plant Control Centre
Ilitha Group Company: Ilitha Project Services
Contract Type: Lump Sum Turnkey
Date of Completion: 30 September 2009

 Project Overview and Scope

Ilitha was contracted by the client to provide a turnkey solution for the design and refurbishment of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) control centre. This would be performed in close co-operation with a subcontractor who was contracted for the control system upgrade and installation, and the client who would continue operation of the WTP throughout the project.

The scope required a modern, ergonomic design which conformed to ISO standards and took into account the flow of personnel traffic whilst facilitating communication where applicable.
Following the completion of Ilitha’s conceptual and detailed design of the WTP, the project moved into the supply and installation phase which incorporated significant planning and procurement controls. In addition, strict adherence to milestone dates was required in order for the operational deadline to be met.

Project Conclusion

Critical to this project was the conversion of design into construction and within a limited timeframe. This was completed successfully with no disruptions to operations whilst close communications were maintained with the client.

A complete turnkey solution was provided from design through construction, installation and commissioning. The project involved multiple interfaces and numerous disciplines which the Ilitha team managed successfully and timeously.

Several new sub-contractors were used during the course of the contract and this has allowed Ilitha the opportunity to evaluate and develop them for future projects.
